 ubuntu 10.04 + wine + the word
Hi , I'm new to both the word and ubuntu .I have tried the solutions that others have posted as regards getting the word to work.No joy . Right clicking only brings up a box saying that it won't install as it's an untrusted program . I think that I am up to date with wine and have downloaded the latest version of the word .Has anybody got any ideas as to how I should proceed .

Untrusted program? Does not sound like a compatibility issue,

Hi , It seems that ubuntu 10.04 won't let you install software that does not come from one of their 'trusted sites'. I don't know if their is a workaround for this . Does anyone know of one . And thank you for this great software . I used to use esword , and then I found The Word , and it is the best bible study software that I have seen . And it's FREE . Thank You and may God and the Blessed Virgin Mary be good to you . I may even send you a donation , the next time I get paid .

Try right click it, go to properties, permissions tab, and check "Allow executing file as program" box.
Thats what I found out, but I can't test it right now, so good luck.

Re: ubuntu 10.04 + wine + the word
For the time has not been standing still..... I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and wine and the Word.
Seems to work flawlessly (without any problems) on my pc and on my laptop as well.
In the beginning of Ubuntu 10.04, there were some issues indeed, but I did not figure out what the problem really was.
But now, with a new kernel in Ubuntu and a lot of new updates, the issues seems to be solved.
Greetings and blessings,
